Golden A' Design Award Winner Transforms Lighting into Hanging Art

The inspiration for the "Halo" pendant lamp came from a unique challenge. Matthew McCormick was tasked with creating a lighting installation for Bottega Gold, an Italian Prosecco brand known for its striking gold bottle and effervescence. The resulting design resembled floating bubbles, with 8”, 12” and 16” circular fluorescent tubes housed in anodized gold, mirroring the brand's signature aesthetic.

What sets "Halo" apart from other lighting designs is its graphic interpretation of effervescence. The series of bold lamps are inspired by the soft, warm glow of their illuminator. This modular system allows the pendants to be suspended in a multitude of compositions, transforming them into elegant hanging art pieces. The lamps are machined and hand-finished, available in brass, copper, nickel, and 24 karat gold.

Matthew McCormick's design process began with the first prototypes in 2014. Since then, "Halo" has moved into full production and is now sold globally. The design is a testament to McCormick's innovative approach to lighting design, blending functionality with aesthetic appeal.
